Fan traditions, experiences at Browns training camp

CLEVELAND — Nick Gorey and his family have made it a tradition to come to the Cleveland Brown'ss training camp every August. They have built up a number of autographs on their kids' jerseys.

Gorey and his family also have season tickets right behind the end zone. They often say hello to their favorite players. The family and fanbase have high hopes for the team this year.“Hoping for the playoffs," Gorey said. "Hoping for the playoffs. Get out of the first round. You know. One, two, three three rounds deep division champions. Something big man. We don’t need the Super Bowl, but we need to go deep.”In the middle of the spotlight, is quarterback Deshaun Watson. He signed a NFL-record $230 million fully guaranteed contract with the Browns last season when he was traded from Houston, but he had to sit out the first 11 games last year because of a suspension by the league for allegations of sexual harassment. Now that Watson has served his suspension and is in his first full season with the team, fans and the organization want a return on the investment.“Deshaun’s done a nice job,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said. “As we’ve talked about. Has come back really into training camp, certainly ready to go. Spent a lot of time over his break with our players. Getting his mind ready for this opportunity, so he’s done a great job.”Gorey’s seats at the stadium look just like his seats at camp.“You know, nice leather seats in the end zone, and then they wrap them around the whole stadium this year,” Gorey said. “They had a big liking with it, so they added about another 300 for this season.”Gorey gets a comfy front-row seat, giving him a glimpse of what’s coming this year. Sometimes he recognizes players he’s seen at Browns stadium.“We’re there all the time, so when we’re out and around if we run into them we will be like, ‘Oh, hey what’s up,’” Gorey said. “They’re like, ‘Yeah, from the field seats,’ you know. So it’s a super cool experience.”
